As a new faculty or staff member, how do I get my Macalester account username and password?
New Faculty members:
  • About one month before the start of the semester, a secure email message is sent from to newly hired faculty with instructions on how to securely access their username and password.
  • Contact the ITS Help Desk with questions or to request a password reset, see FAQ 62.

New Staff members:
  • Employment Services has your Macalester credentials letter with your unique Macalester username and password.
  • The ITS Help Desk can reset your password. For more information, see FAQ 62.

Username change information:
Macalester usernames are automatically generated during account creation and cannot be changed without a legal name change or in the rare instances when a typo is used to generate an account. For more information, see FAQ 610.

The ITS Help Desk can verify if your account exists and/or reset its password. Due to privacy and security concerns, ITS consultants cannot look up existing passwords, only reset them. Existing Macalester accounts will be listed in the online directory; search the online directory directory for a quick way to find out your own username.
