Does my Windows computer have anti-spyware software? If not, where can I obtain an anti-spyware program?
Most antivirus programs, including Microsoft Security Essentials and Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition (which ITS recommends for personally-owned computers) include anti-spyware protection.  To see whether you have antispyware software installed:

In Windows 7, check the Malicious Software Protection setting in the Windows Security Center to see whether antispyware software is installed:
  1. Click Start, type security status and press Enter.
  2. Click the down arrow next to Security.
  3. If the Spyware and unwanted software protection setting is ON,  antispyware software is installed. To see which program is providing antispyware protection click the View installed antispyware programs link.

Windows XP:
  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Look on the programs list for common antispyware programs such as Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware, or for antivirus programs that contain antispyware protection, such as Symantec Antivirus or Microsoft Security Essentials.

If antispyware software is not installed, there are several free options available including Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware.
